Catch 22

OK so this story has me thinking.  It might be weird to us that this girl's family isn't going to get her medical treatment and she is instead going to live her life worshipped as the reincarnation of a Hindu goddess.  It may seem irrational to us, but how nice is it that she isn't going to grow up in America where she would be ridiculed rather than revered for her appearance?
